We’ll be happy to walk you through everything we offer and give you some tips on choosing your siding and making your house represent your style. There are more than a few choices out there. Homes built by brick can last over 100 years. It can be over 25 years before you even need to begin worrying about cracks or other damages. If you want a less expensive choice, you can give up some durability, and choose brick-veneer, which will look just as appealing to the eye. It’s a smart decision if you have weather related concerns for a stone house. The great things about siding is that it is relatively easy to maintain. It’s a good idea to wash the siding every year with cold water. Use a soft brush to loosen dirt. A long-handled car washing brush attached to a garden hose makes the job easier. Start from the bottom and work up to prevent streaking. Natural weathering can make paint powder (chalk) on wood siding. You can usually wash chalking off with water and gentle scrubbing. Use power washers with care. Do not tilt it up, as this can force water behind the siding.
Things like heat, snow, ice and rain will have little effect on a home built with stone. A common use for building a home is stucco. Stucco is cement combined with water and other ingredients like sand or lime. The rock hard surface created by stucco is solid and keeps moisture out. A bonus to having the stucco ‘look’ is that there are synthetic stuccos available. This is perfect for those of you who live in light-weathered places who want a low maintenance solution.
